There are thousands of possibilities as to why you are here reading this right now. If you’re anything like me, you may be here because you are curious- curious as to the reality of abuse, curious as to what you can do to help, curious if there is someone else like you. If you are a survivor of sexual assault/abuse, I am like you. My father sexually abused me as a child, and because of emotional abuse and psychological manipulation, I had no clue that what he was doing was wrong. I realized the truth a few years ago when I was 15 years old in high school. I reported, my case was turned away, and my abuser walked free. After realizing how unjust the justice process can be, I decided to start writing about how this process can affect the child. I’ve written speeches and recently spoke publicly for the first time at a rally for my local children’s advocacy center. Read about my journey and speeches here.
